Sheep and co

Sheep are not the only animals I saw in Ireland.

I saw roosters in Bunratty Folk park.

Cows in the middle of the road.

Seals (from Glengariff to Ganirish Island)

Dolphin (Fungie, Dingle’s famous dolphin)

As usual, click to enlarge.

Colours & road sign

One of the first things you notice when you are in Ireland is the colour of the houses. I took the pictures in Clifden, Sneem and Kenmare but they could have been taken in every irish small town and village.

This is where we stopped to have lunch. I had a yummy soup there. 🙂

When I saw those road signs in Clifden, all I thought was: you must have a good sense of direction to drive here…

Click pictures to enlarge them.

When I went there 4 years ago, it was raining cats and dogs, this year, it was very cloudy but no rain!

You can see the Aran islands on the next picture.

More picture of the cliffs.

It was very windy.

And now some pictures of the Burren.

It’s always amazing to see that some flowers grow there…

My father told me the rock on the right looks like a dog.

You can see the cliffs far away.

As usual, click to enlarge.

Dia dhuit!

Hi everybody!

I’m back from one week in Ireland, God I love this country so much!

Of course it wasn’t very sunny but you know it’s Ireland LOL. In fact we had rain and sun everyday 😉 But I don’t care, I had wonderful holidays.

Want to see some pictures? (you can enlarge all the pictures by clicking on them)

OK here they are 😉

First, this is what we saw when we arrived at the hotel: swallows feeding their babies (so cute).

A Sheela Na Gig on a chuchr (Killinaboy, Co. Clare).

It was supposed to lead the devil away.

Leamaneagh castle.

The fortified house was built by Conor O’Brien who was married to Maura Rua or Red Mary. He returned from battle seriously injured, but she refused him admittance on the grounds that she believed he was dead. Eventually he was allowed in but died shortly thereafter, possibly by her hand. Red Mary remarried to improve her position.

Poulnabrone stone

I took a picture of the explanation sign:

More pictures to come…

As I said yesterday, I had a great stay there. Venice is a wonderful place to visit and so beautiful! The weather was nice, sunny but not too hot.

We were a group of 66 people, that was a lot but most of the time, we were separated in 2 groups, so that was OK.

After our arrival at San Marco airport, we used a private boat to reach Venice (50 mn from the airport). It was amazing to discover the city from the lagoon 🙂 Our hotel wasn’t in Venice but in a lovely seaside resort at one hour from Venice (30 mn by bus and 30 mn by boat), so everyday we used a boat to go to Venice 🙂

When you arrive at Piazza San Marco, the first thing you see is pigeons. There are everywhere! Can you imagine hundreds of pigeons flying everywhere? Incredible!

If you have the opportunity to visit Venice, don’t hesitate to stroll in the streets, far away from touristic tour, Venice is so beautiful…

Piazza San Marco is a huge crowdy square and the front of the cathedral is often flooded (I saw a few centimeters of water there).

Sorry, we were not allowed to take pictures inside the buildings…

The Doges Palace is amazing, the rooms are so beautiful!!! Too bad I couldn’t take pictures 😦

When it was built, the bridge of sighs had nothing to do with romantism, it connected the prisons to the interrogation rooms in the Doges Palace…

What would be Venice without its Grand Canal and gondolas 🙂

We went to several islands around Venice itself.

Murano, famous for its glass.

Burano, famous for its lace.

This is very hard to resume this trip because in Venice, you discover everything with your eyes! So I think the best is to show you pictures. You’ll find more here. 🙂

See you next week :)

Don’t worry if you don’t hear from me in the next few days because I’ll be in Venice, Italy and won’t have any internet access.

I’ve never been there and I’m sure I will love Venice 🙂 I’ll be there from Thursday (departure from where I live at 3 AM and from Paris at 7:30 AM) to Sunday.

A lot of visits are planned: St Mark square, Doge’s palace, Basilica di San Marco, the Bridge of the sighs, Rialto Bridge, the lagoon…

I promise to be back with pictures to share with you 🙂
